Adient’s product group RECARO Automotive Seating will be celebrating its 50th anniversary of shell seats at IAA 2017 with two world-firsts. The global leader in premium performance seating presents the new RECARO Pole Position (ABE) Edition 2018, designed as an exclusive pure performance shell and licensed for driving excitement on public roads. Additionally, the all-new Racing Shell concept will meet the growing demand for high-performance products in semi-professional and professional motorsport series.
Frankfurt, Germany, September 12, 2017 – Form-fitting, delivering immediate feedback: The RECARO Pole Position (ABE) Edition 2018 is a complete seat for aftermarket applications and stands for unique, dynamic driving pleasure on public roads for performance-oriented consumers. In the “Dynamic Performance” segment it combines a distinctive sporty, clean design and premium craftsmanship for individual, cool interiors with a purely dynamic riding performance.
Its slim, one-piece shell provides pronounced side and shoulder support. The material used for headrests and side bolsters is exclusive leather in carbon-look. Luminous green leather strips with black contrast stitching emphasize the clear contours. Jet black Dinamica microfiber fabrics on seat cushions and backrests provides a pleasant feel and optimum hold.
As a special edition to mark the 50th anniversary of RECARO shell seats, the RECARO Pole Position (ABE) Edition 2018 will be manufactured in a limited series of just 300 seats. Each seat will be delivered with a certificate and its serial number on an elegant aluminum tag. 
Also debuting at this year’s IAA is the all-new aftermarket RECARO Racing Shell concept, addressing the “Pure Power Performance” segment. Designed as an exclusive pure racing shell it targets semi-professional and professional motorsport drivers. In select markets like Japan, the shell will also be eligible for use on public roads. As RECARO Complete Seat concept for motorsport applications, its high-performance carbon fiber shell provides maximum safety and dynamic rigidity, pronounced side support in backrest and seat cushion, and long-distance driving comfort.
With a low H-point and optimized contours for free shoulder and arm movement, the driver gets excellent feedback from the track and can focus on the competition. The integrated headrest allows the use of FHR (Frontal Head Restraint) safety systems and provides slots for a 6-point seat belt. The small compact lateral head protection meets the demands of both professional and semi-professional drivers. To help drivers getting in and out of the vehicle during pit stops as quickly as possible, this layout is a smart solution for endurance competitions. ISF (Integral Skin Form) pads ensure optimum shock absorption and perfect grip, backrest air splits provide excellent climate comfort.
